Lokals is an online platform for travelers to connect with local people when traveling - so you can experience the destination in the most authentic and intimate way possible.
As the company is based around local experiences - they asked to us to produce a variety of content for them showing different local experiences in Portugal. So in April 2019, we got planning and headed to Lisbon for an epic week of shooting.
Portugal is such an amazing place, aside from the culture and the beautiful landscape, it offers a range of activities that any keen traveler would love to soak up.
In one small country, you can experience the wild Atlantic coast, sailing, swimming and remote beach campfires, whilst also enjoying the urban lifestyle and the creative art and culture that comes with it in the capital, Lisbon.
There are too many stories to tell from that week, the richness in experiences we had is a true testament to what the business is offering. We ate like Kings and Queens, drank some of the strangest moonshine local brews, we were taken out on a local sail boat where we saw the most beautiful sunset over Lisbon, a hot air balloon at sunrise, and we even managed to breakdown a borrowed VW camper in the middle of the night on a remote beach.
As the nature of this shoot was fun and laughter, the laughing was endless. To get the best out of our hero cast and make sure they were as natural as possible in front of the camera we would give them pranks, keep them well hydrated or make them do silly actions to get them laughing. Daring one person to shove an ice-cream in the others face, a belly flop contest into a pool, breaking into dance on a public street.
The shoot definitely gave us a new appreciation of Portugal and it’s culture. We will definitely be going back again soon.
